Zoe Saldana, born June 19th, 1978, was the son of Asalia Nazario, along with Aridio Saldana. The actress was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her parents raised her within Queens, New York. The family she was raised with moved from Queens, NY and to the Dominican Republic when she was 10; they lived in the Dominican Republic for 7 years. In the Dominican Republic, Zoe discovered a keen interest in performance dance and started her studies at the prestigious ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy where she learned ballet as well as different dance styles. The instruction she received was not just an excellent opportunity for an active, eager child, but was also a best preparation for her eventual acting career as a professional.
